My plans for this year.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (1)

When I first started my online journey in September 08 I had no clear plans for how I was going to succeed.  Actually the journey started before that. For several months I floundered around buying into every gurus hype that I came across.  My inbox became swamped with different marketing ideas and I know I was being pulled in every direction.

Then I joined Alex Jeffreys coaching program and this taught me how to plan properly.  Once I had a clear vision of where I wanted to be in a years time,  it became much easier to focus on the certain tasks and more importantly the correct order in which to do them.  I won’t pretend that I didn’t stray off the path now and then, but with the mentoring program behind me, I always managed to re-focus and get myself back on track.

So here I am now.  A couple of months away from moving from the Uk to the south of France.  Where my online journey will continue. Quitting your JOB is a good feeling let me tell you.  I aim to develop my own mentoring skills now that I’m going to have so much more time.  I have had some good feedback from my  first group of students, but I intend to over deliver in the next program that I set up.

Another project that I will set up later in the year is a self-improvement site.  Its an area in which I have a lot of interest.  Mindset is so important, and makes all the difference to what you attract into your life.  I know that I can help a lot of people to develop and grow in this particular niche.  I really love seeing people change their life in this way.

I will finish this short post off by thanking  you, the readers of this blog,  because without you it would be a lonely place.  Also a big thankyou to my students for your feedback which helps me to develop whilst you learn.  I aim to be giving a lot more value  this summer, and want this blog to become a more interactive place.  So I am always happy to hear new ideas.

To your success.

Traffic methods

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

Traffic is the life blood of your blog and is the area that most people really struggle with. Especially in the begining of your onlin journey.
If your budget is tight and your new to blogging you may want look for free ways to attract visitors to your site. Here is a list of my favourite methods.

  • Twitter
  • Youtube
  • Blog hopping.
  • Articles
  • Facebook
  • Forums

Twitter

Twitter is a micro blogging platform that nearly everyone has heard of by now. The ide is that you communicate with others using only a few words. It is a great way to get targeted followers. The key is not spam the site, but add value by adding real comments and occasionally a link back to your blog.

Youtube

It is really easy to make a quick video and add it to Youtube. Youtube has a fantastic amount of traffic and by adding a link back from your video to your blog you can generate a fair bit of traffic quite quickly.

Blog hopping

This is my favourite method and very easy to do in just a few minutes a day. Basically you visit blogs in your nich and read the posts. Then leave a comment. Usally there is a place to leave a link. Other people will read your comments and click on your links back to your site. You can get a steady trickle of traffic this way very quickly.

Articles

There are many article sites on the net. It does not take long to put a five hundred word article together. You include your links at the bottom. Most sites will take a few days to approve your work, but its worth it when someone uses your article on their site. I have visited many blogs that I have found through article writing.

Facebook

I use Facebook in the same way as I use Twitter. By making comments and now and again promoting my own blog. The key here is add to your friends list by following other people in your niche. Then as your list grows add friends from other peoples profiles.

Forums

Places like the http://www.warriorforum.com are great places to get traffic. The beauty of this method is, its really targeted traffic. Be careful not to spam the site, always add value by making helpful comments or asking sensible questions. You promote your own blog by leaving a link in your signature.

All these methods work. They do take time, but the rewards do come. The important thing is to take action and set some time aside to follow through with these methods on a regular basis.

To your online future.

Dont over complicate things.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

You know I think we over complicate things when we try to make money on the Internet.  Information overload is one of the main reasons, but not the only one.  When you first start out on your online journey you are searching for the easiest way to succeed, and this is all about mindset really.

Its easy to jump from one idea to another, especially if you come to a barrier or obstacle.  This can often be because you don’t really believe in your own abilities.  Something tells you in your sub-concsious that it can’t be that easy, or that you can’t succeed because you never have before.

This is really just you doubting yourself.  After all, if others make it work, why not you?  Don’t let your inner you hold you back.  We are all capable of the same things.  What makes the difference is taking action and following through. Take an idea and make it work. If you come to a problem work your way around it. Do not give up.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

When I first started out, I found a lot of help on the Warrior forum. Actually I still ask a fair amount of questions on there even now. The point is there will always be someone who knows the answer to your problem.  Just don’t give in and keep moving on to the next idea.  I spent a year doing that and its soul destroying.

Making an online income is not that difficult really.  Not when you break it down to the basics.

  • Find a market.
  • Build a site.
  • Drive traffic to it.
  • Fine tune it.
  • Maximise sales.

It really can be that simple if you allow it to be.

To your online success.

More from the list building seminar

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

Another inspirational speaker last weekend was Simon Leung.   This guy was working for Google right at the start.  Before anyone had even heard of Google.  Can you imagine that, a world without Google?

He came up with some very useful tips.  We all know Google like unique content, but it goes way deeper than that.  The reviewer has to be impressed with real quality.  The more knowledgable  a site appears the more highly its ranked in Googles eyes.  Their main concern is to offer value to their clients.

So Google love corporate sites.  The more professional you appear to be,  the better.  So avoid using templates that everyone and his dog are using.

Never try to fool Google by using software that bends the rules.  They have real people trawling through the sites looking for just that. It would only be a matter of time before your discovered.

If your using a squeeze page make sure that you never place ads on it.  Its also not enough to just say we never abuse your email under the optin box.  It should be actually linked to a privacy page.  In saying that, I have seen many successful landing pages that have not followed that rule.

Here is a point worth mentioning as well.  When your giving away a free report Google have a preference on the way its worded.  It should not say download your free report here. Instead it is better to say free access to your report.   The point being that if you optin then the report is not really free, but mearly being exchanged for an email address.

I don’t really understand why thats important, but it did come from Simon Leung and the man is vast sea of knowledge when it comes to Google.

More soon.

Mark Anastasi’s List Building Weekend.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (3)

What a weekend!

So much to share.  I went to the event expecting some hard sales, and in fairness there was a quite a bit tagged onto the end of pitches, but a lot of golden nuggets in between.

One of the best tips that I thought would really work well to build a list fast, was adswaps.  Now in the past I have always thought that you would need a really big list already before anyone would be ready to work with you on this, but Mark Anastasi explained how to overcome this problem.

Basically if your list is smaller than the person your doing the swap with, you would simply email your list several times thus giving your new JV partner the same value as yourself.  He began his own list building in this exact same way.

So this kind of opens up a new avenue for anyone with a list of just a few hundred subscribers.  The main thing as always is to offer value. Make sure whoever your dealing with does not go away feeling short changed.

Another reason for me going to this event was to network.  Unfortunately I suffered a  back problem a few months ago and I had re-occurence of the problem over the weekend.  I think sitting still for hours on end caused this.  I wanted to mix with people after the event each evening but always ended up hobbling back to my hotel in agony.

I did however meet one interesting character.  His name is Mark Lyford.  Now Mark has had his fair share of troubles in the last few years and this even resulted in him doing a bit of bird, but lessons to be learned in the face of adversity and all that. He has had time to plan and has launched http://millionairechallenge.tv/  I think this guy is really going places and its well worth visiting his site. I think the lesson to learn is to never let your dreams die. If you want something bad enough then you find a way to make it happen.

Look out for some more golden nuggets from the list building weekend shortly.

Blogging for success.

Blogging for Success – Why Honesty Really Counts

Blogging is all the rage at the moment and you will most probably have heard that some people blog full-time and their personal blogs bring them in a fortune each and every month. Whilst this is true for some people, setting up a blog is not a get-rich quick scheme. A blog is actually a long term investment in your future and the more blog posts you can add, the more popular your blog is likely to become.

Before we get carried away with the technical aspects of blogging, let us consider for a moment just why you should set up a blog and think about what you are trying to achieve and what will occur as a by-product.  Assuming since you purchased this report, that you are trying to make both your name and earn money as an Internet Marketer, then you need to build a web presence, become an expert in your niche area and write with enthusiasm and with regularity.  Writing in your own voice will have others wanting to keep reading because they start to feel that they know you and even more, they will start to believe in you.

When your list of readers begins to grow, the by-product I mentioned in the last paragraph starts to occur and this is when any available products that you have created, will begin to sell to those regular readers.

It is absolutely important however, that you write with honesty and integrity and not just for the sake of writing another post to your site. Remember that your words are selling you and a blog can be extremely therapeutic and give you the opportunity to rant, endorse, sympathise or inform, but do not just write something for cause and effect as this will be counterproductive.

The long term investment in blogging is that to make it successful, regular posts must be published, this helps Google and other search engines pick up on the blog and this in turn drives more traffic. Regular content, search engine optimised and written with enthusiasm and passion will have people gradually signing up to read more.

Don’t despair, it takes time and commitment but providing you have chosen a good niche area, have an easy to read blog/website and a passion for your subject.

You must also never try to be something that you are not, people will see through this in an instant. If you are wondering how you can start your new career without having relevant experience, then don’t worry, the fact that you are reading this report will give you knowledge that others who start afterwards may not have. Your progression into this new career will give you something to write about.

What are the odds?

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

What are the odds of your cooker blowing up on xmas day?

Yes you guessed it!  It happend to me.  Luckily the meal was saved by an industerial microwave lurking in the garage. It is the size of a small tank but acts as an oven as well.  So all was not lost.

It just goes to show though, that you have to be prepared for any eventuality, and this got me thinking.  How many of us back up our work online?  Even when I am updating wordpress I tend to just do it automatically.  Yet the instructions are right there in front of me, back up all your files.  So far so good, but just like the cooker blowing up on xmas day, one day it will happen.

So let us learn from that. Everything that can happen will happen eventually. Its mearly a numbers game.

I was a bit over dramatic about the cooker.  It didn’t really blow up, but it did stop working.

A thankyou to Matt Garrett.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

Matt recently reviewed mine and a few other sites on his blog. Here is the link http://blogtactics.com/7-blog-reviews/
It made me realise that sometimes you need to sit back and look at your blog or site from a different perspective.

Getting someone else to look at it is a great way of doing just that. Its really easy to lose sight of why you started the blog in the first place. Everything evolves in life and blogs are no different. You write new posts and add little gadgets and videos, and the tech guys are always developing new plugins.
Before you know it your once tidy and neat blog has become cluttered and unreadable, but you can’t always see it yourself.
So get a marketing buddy to look it over once and awhile.
You need your blog to be easy on the eye, and this is the easiest way to keep things in check.

A storm is brewing. The Stormbringer Report coming soon!

A storm is coming………very soon!

Posted by: Andy | Comments (3)

Hi everyone.
This storm is going to cause chaos.
Its going to upset a few Gurus.
Its building as we speak.
This storm brings the truth!
Its going to wash away all the junk and myths that you most probably have been reading in your inbox for some time now.
Its going to lay to rest a few ghosts.
Its going to clear the atmosphere, so that you can breath good clean fresh air for the first time.
Its going to create a solid platform so strong that you can build an entire Internet business on it.
Sometimes you need a good storm to clear the air, and thats exactly what your gonna get.

I’m so fed up listening to all the junk and lies around today. I want to come clean with it all.
I am working all hours at the moment writing THE STORMBRINGER REPORT.
Once youv’e read it, it will change how you view the Internet marketing world forever!
You will for possibly the first time be able to get started on an online business with a clear view to the future.
I also promise you it will be completely FREE!

So keep looking at the sky.
There is a storm brewing.

Outsourcing.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (1)

You don’t have to do everything!
You can’t possibly learn all aspects of Internet marketing, especially in the early days. Learn as you go along, but get help when you need it. Build a team around you.
I do understand that money can be a problem but its suprising where you can find really useful resources if you look around. There will always be people from all aspects of your business looking for work.
One such area is writing. Sometimes its easy to think of great idea for an ebook or report, but not so easy to actually sit down and write it all from scratch. Well a ghost writing service could really help you there. All you would need to do, would be to put down the basic idea and structure. A few notes that you want to be included, and the rest will be written for you, and of course in a professional manner.
What are you waiting for, now there should be no excuses.
Here is a link for a ghost writing service. http://www.annette-young.com

I have just finished reading the Newbies Nightmare and boy does Alex say it as it is. No holds barred….. No holding back the truth. He really delivers in this free ebook. I was expecting a good read, but didn’t expect him to reveal so much. Everybody who is serious about making money on the Internet should really read this mind blowing report first. https://paydotcom.com/r/21977/XXXXXXX/
One thing for sure there will be a lot more people quitting their jobs this year, as Alex opens up his coaching course again. I have never looked back since joining last year. There has been so many success stories and there will without doubt be more.
So why not download the free life changing ebook right here now. https://paydotcom.com/r/21977/XXXXXXX/

The Newbies Nightmare.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (1)

It seems like the whole internet community is waiting for Alex Jeffreys to finish his ebook The Newbie’s Nightmare. Myself included. As one of Alex’s students I know just how valuable his information is. I know when his coaching course opens up again it will almost certainly sell out straight away.
I am not sure what Alex will reveal as the newbies nightmare. I know traffic and list building can be a problem to anyone new to internet marketing, but you know it could just be mind set. If you don’t believe in what your doing, how can it possibly work for you? I think its very important to just sit down with a pad and pen and write down what you consider to be your weakness or constraint. Just identifying these barriers can help free you from the chains holding you back.
Got to say a quick well done to Dean Holland. Dean is another one of Alex’s students and last week he handed his notice in. So in about three weeks Dean will be a full time marketer. So it can be done, just get yourself a mentor, someone you can trust and believe in. Then believe in yourself.
Dean is a few months ahead of me. My target is to be fulltime by xmas.

How to use the forums for traffic.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (7)

The amount of traffic that you can get from forums can vary greatly. Some busy forums will be well worth the effort. Always look for those that have a high turnover of comments. If nobody has left a post for several weeks then ignore it. You will just be talking to thin air ( some would say a bit like being married.)
It should go without saying that you need to find a forum that covers your niche. Hardley worth going on a betting forum when your site is about curry receipes, although I am sure that some gamblers do like a curry, but you get the point.
Another really important point is not to just wade in and pimp your site. You will be ignored at best and the worst case scenario is that you will be seen as a spammer and get banned from the forum.
The best course of action I find is to get a feel for the site before you post, have a read of the favourite topics. Then when your ready join in with helpful comments. Eventually you become a trusted member of that community and peope will naturally be curious about what you do and check you out.
Never overlook a well used forum for advice, we are all learning as our businesses evolve and I have made some really useful contacts in this way. So remember a forum in your particular niche will be full of valuable information.
Some search engines index highly active forums. So it is possible to get a trickle of traffic this way too.
I think the most important thing I have learned is to be yourself, otherwords don’t try to sound like a guru if your not. I think people see through this pretty quickly and all you do is lose trust. Talk about the things you do know about and when you learn about new topics pass that on. You can easily establish yourself as an expert in your own field in this way.
I do have success in this way with traffic so it does work.
If anyone has any other ideas on how they use forums I would love to hear them.

Submitting Your Website to Search Engines

Posted by: Andy | Comments (6)

Found this article and thought it might be of use.
Submitting Your Website to Search Engines.

If you have a web-based business or if a significant portion of your business is done on the web through your website, then the best advertising and marketing is done by submitting to a search engine. No amount of press release, newspaper or radio ad, banner ad, spam email or newsletter will achieve the same results, although, maybe effective in a small proportion.

Beware of companies that promise automatic submission of your website to hundreds of search engines which are but only false promises. The best way to submit your website for search engine ranking and inclusion is to do it yourself or to hire an expert to do it manually, by contacting the search engine companies and directories. This is a mistake I made myself. I thought I could buy my way in, just not true.

Before you begin to submit your website to search engines ensure your websites are thoroughly designed to the professional quality using the right key words, good graphics and pictures and the relevant content. Don’t submit websites that are incomplete. While submitting to a search engine, make sure to provide information about your website, keywords and any other information that may be pertinent, including the name and contact information of your business.

Mere submission to search engine companies does not guarantee that your site would be immediately listed and the ranking will be high. Because there are thousands of new websites coming up every day and it may take quite sometime before they take up your site for review by human editors. One important factor to remember while submitting site is to include a site map of your website which makes the crawling easy for the web robots. Search engines like ‘http://www.google.com’ hardly considers submissions without sitemaps.

A quick update

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

Wow what a week! First of all in a vain attempt to recapture my youth I started jogging. Result one torn cartilidge (ouch!)
Then I noticed something different in the behaviour of my 18 year old cat. To cut a long story short it turns out she has kidney disease, very common in old cats. I have to put her on a drip every other day. I have always had a fear of needles but her need is far greater than my fear and so we have been coping.
On the business front things have been moving along really well. The launch of the two new sites is very close(watch this space)
Really looking forward to working with everyone on the listbuildingwithandy.com site. It will be a great platform for all of us involved to really take off and make our online presence profitable.
The shootavideo.info site is also about a week a way. That one is going to be a lot of fun. Hope to see you all over there.
Also through the power of Twitter found a great site with loads of useful information. You might want to check it out. http://www.suhaimirahman.com/
Talk real soon.

Plan your future.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

In order to be successful online or offline you will need to do some planning. Otherwise you will try to do too many things at once. This will just lead to confusion and you get nowhere in the end. I know because thats what I did for a couple of years.
I first got myself on track by making three plans.

A business plan.
A entrepreneur plan.
A personal plan.

The business plan was to build blogs in different niches and build lists from them.
The entrepreneur plan was about the future and I wanted to learn everything that I could about video marketing.
The personal plan is all about lifestyle. In this case I wanted to find ways of outscourcing my workload to free up more time.

Can you see how easy it would be to lose focus without these plans in place? I can’t stress it enough, it should always be the building blocks to your business.
Another really great way to get started once you have your three plans in place, is to think about where you want to be in one years time. Then work your way back from that point by creating a……

A 90 day plan.
A 4 week plan.
A 1 week plan.
Then plan tomorrow today.
With these plans in place you should be able to move forward. Without them you will probably flit from task to task without any real direction.

When a product is just hype.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

Have you noticed how many products for sale on the internet have been selected just because of the WOW factor. How many of these products really meet the direct needs of the buyers? Probably not that many.
Clever copy can fool a lot of people.
I can never understand why somebody sells a product thats so loaded with hype that it appears too good to be true, and you know what they say about too good too be true.
If you sell or recomend a product or service that you truly believe in, then not only do you have a clear conscience but you have also actually helped someone with their online success.
I find it much easier to write about a product that I believe in as well.
The big plus side of this is that your customer is far more likely to return to your site again and again, if they feel that they have been treated fairly.
We all want to make money, but I would rather give a product away than have someone feel cheated.

How to get more traffic.

Posted by: Andy | Comments (0)

The question that keeps being asked the most from my email list is, how do I build more traffic to my site?
The real question should be how do I get targeted traffic to my website. Without your traffic being targeted your sales will be as good as zero. The need for traffic is a constant pressure for the newbie. I would love to be able to tell you that there is a push button method for instant targeted traffic, but sadly it does not exist. That being said with a little effort it is possible that within a few weeks you can have a steady stream of targeted traffic to your site or blog.
The method I find best for this is link building.
Link building is all about creating a connection with other parts of the internet. Before anyone can find you they will have to know about you. The chances of traffic just stumbling across your site is unrealistic. It is a mistake that many newbies make. So how do you go about getting links?
If you think about how people use the internet. They search by inputting keywords into search engines like Google and Yahoo. They click on links in articles and in advertisements on websites that they already know about. They hear about sites in forums and chat rooms.
I started to get traffic first by networking with other sites. Just visit other sites with the same theme as yours and leave a constructive comment. Others will see your name keep popping up with your link and start to get interested in what you have to say. They will visit your site and the traffic will slowly build.
Creating content for others to use is also a very good traffic builder. Write articles for article sites, there are hundreds of them. People read these and use them on their own sites with your link in them. Its really like a knock on effect, once the momentum builds a tiny trickle can quickly become a river of targeted traffic. There many thousands of forums covering almost every subject under the sun. These can be fantasic places to make new contacts in your field and to get your site known. Do be carefull not to just push your site. People will soon get fed up being told to visit yourname.com every five minutes. Always try to write constructive comments. Answer peoples questions. It is so easy to build traffic this way.
All of the above work. Not overnight, it will start very slowly but it will work. Keep doing it and slowly the momentum builds.
Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions.

Outsource your work.

Even if you don’t have a lot of spare cash it is really important to understand this. To make your business look professional you will have to hire professional people. Even if your an expert at copy, blog building, graphics, seo, ebook creating and link building when are you going to find the time?
This does not have to happen overnight so don’t worry, but it is in your interest to slowly build a team around you. Concentrate on what you do best, why spend days or weeks on a task that can be done in hours for just a few dollars. This philosophy allows you the freedom and time to manage your business properly.

How do you think the guru’s get to the point where they make money on a regular basis, the kind of cash that gives you freedom from the normal routine of a job.
They do things, and if it doesn’t work they change it, and if that doesn’t work they do something different. Do you get it? The idea is not to think about, just do it. Get started, do something today! Make a plan and set aside some time each day to follow through with it.
By this time tomorrow you could have a blog very similar to this one up and running, and then your online journey begins.
Much more later.

The very first thing you need to do is get your own space on the internet. This will be the hub of your new business. Buy yourself a domain name and some hosting, then go to wordpress.org Wordpress is a very friendly platform to use and your domain name and hosting will link together to make a blog. Your domain name is the title of your blog. Your hosting company rent out your space on the internet to you, and wordpress is the platform in which create your site.
To get a real business with real people paying you real money you have first got to ask yourself why you buy things yourself. What motivates you to click on that link? What are the key things that make you part with your hard earned cash?
Most people buy when they believe that there is no risk and see good value. To give value write lots of fresh content and be honest in your story. Tell people how you become involved in internet marketing and keep a journal about your progress. Write about the things that have gone wrong as well as your success.
This is beneficial in two different ways. First in the fact that you can look back and see just how far you have come. I can remember being frustrated one day and thinking that I just wasn’t making any progress. I started reading my notes and I realised that I had learned loads and that motivated me. The second reason to keep a journal of your progress is that it can easily be turned into an ebook, which you can give out to your readers for free and help build your list.
Part two tomorrow.
